“With the DD460 from Data Domain, we’ve been able to compress and store two to three months of backup data onsite. We’ve cut costs and reduced our reliance on offsite tape storage, and we can back up and restore data at incredible speeds. Best of all, we can easily verify the security and integrity of our data. We’re very pleased — the DD460 is everything we’d hoped for.” |
WEEE Compliance in Europe: LuxembourgCollection and Recycling Arrangements in LuxembourgData Domain equipment is sold in Luxembourg by Channel Partners. The Channel Partner imports the equipment into Luxembourg. Thus the Channel Partner has the legal responsibility to:
Under the Luxembourg Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment legislation that came into force on August 13th 2005, for equipment that you buy from a Data Domain Channel Partner after August 13th 2005, the Channel Partner is required to finance the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. The old equipment that your new purchase from the Data Domain Channel Partner replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE. Under the WEEE Ordinance, the Channel Partner is also required to finance the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from the Channel Partner after August 13th 2005 when that equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE. Data Domain has decided to provide WEEE collection and recycling on behalf of its Channel Partners in Luxembourg. Data Domain products are very competitively priced. Any new increase in operating costs for manufacturers such as Data Domain is normally reflected in a price increase in the product. However, instead of increasing the prices of our products Data Domain has decided to share these new environmental costs directly with our customers. We believe in being transparent with you on any new environmental costs that our products need to address. Our approach to sharing these new environmental costs is:
Data Domain has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN facility in Luxembourg. All New WEEE that arises from the purchase of Data Domain products is classed as non-hazardous waste. It is your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs of collection and transportation to EARN. In order to meet waste regulations in Luxembourg, you should use one of the following carriers (which will hold a valid Waste Carriers licence prior to producer take-back obligations beginning in Luxembourg):
For larger quantities of waste, you may want to contact the recycler directly to arrange and pay for alternative collection arrangements. The Data Domain recycler in Luxembourg is:
To comply with the Luxembourg waste transport regulations the transport of your waste to the recycler must be accompanied by suitable documentation. In order to comply with this legislation and to enable EARN to identify Data Domain equipment upon arrival at the recycler's address, please download the Recycling Label for Luxembourger Customers. Complete the label with your company details and attach it to a suitable box for transport to EARN. WEEE Reporting Recycling Data for Data Domain Equipment in LuxembourgUnder Article 14 of of the WEEE Ordinance, Data Domain Channel Partners must provide annual information on the quantities and categories of electrical and electronic equipment put on the market, reused, recycled and recovered within Luxembourg. The WEEE legislation states that Data Domain Channel Partners must report under ten collection and treatment categories. The first WEEE recycling report will cover the period from August 2005 and be available from April 2006. EARN will prepare the recycling data report for Data Domain. |
