Data Domain Unleashes the Gateway Restorer

Gateway Puts Serial ATA on Steroids

PALO ALTO, CALIF. — December 12, 2005 — Data Domain, the leading provider of capacity-optimized storage solutions, today announced the availability of the DD460g Enterprise Restorer. The DD460g gateway product transforms Fibre Channel-attached external disk arrays into cost-effective storage environments for long-term data protection. Customers can now take advantage of the massive compression enabled by Data Domain — 20–50x — while backing up data to disk arrays in their SANs, significantly improving storage utilization and reducing total cost of ownership.

The DD460g gateway has been qualified for EMC CLARiiON® and Nexsan ATABeast®, and inserts easily into a user’s existing enterprise backup infrastructure. As with other products in the DD400 Enterprise Series, users can store several months of backup data onsite and reduce their reliance on tape. Providing up to 200 TB of storage capacity and throughput of several hundred GB/hour, the DD460g speeds backups and restores, and was designed from the ground up for maximum reliability and integrity — verified after every backup.

Used with the Data Domain Replicator software module, the DD460g can also be used for capacity-optimized replication to offsite locations for disaster recovery and business continuity.
