Storage Luminary Geoff Barrall Joins Data Domain Advisory Board

PALO ALTO, CALIF. - Oct. 05, 2004 - Data Domain™, the leader in enterprise data protection solutions, today announced the appointment of Geoff Barrall to its board of advisers. Most recently, Barrall was a founder of BlueArc Corporation and chief technology officer.

As a storage industry authority, Barrall speaks at numerous events annually and is a frequent contributor to both regional and national publications. He is known by many in the storage community for his column, “From the Desk of Geoff Barrall.”

“Geoff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Data Domain. He has started and led four successful technology startups as well as held executive appointments at both large and small companies. He brings executive experience to the board and is in touch with customer needs and wants,” said Frank Slootman, president and CEO of Data Domain.

Barrall was the principal architect of BlueArc’s core technology, the SiliconServer Architecture. Prior to BlueArc, Barrall founded four other ventures, including one of the first Fast Ethernet companies and a successful IT consulting business. In this role he was involved in the introduction of innovative networking products into UK markets, including the Packeteer and NetScout.

Barrall has worked as a consultant and project manager for Fortune 100 companies across many industries. He holds a doctoral degree in Cybernetics from the University of Reading.
