Leading German Distributor to Resell Data Domain Products

TIM sees Great Opportunity in German Market for Data Domain Disk Backup Solutions

PALO ALTO, CALIF. - February 15, 2005 - Data Domain®, the leader in next-generation data protection solutions, today announced that TIM, a leading Germany-based storage distributor has signed an agreement with Data Domain to resell the company’s DD200 Restorer disk-based recovery appliance and Replicator software module.

The DD200 is the industry’s first disk-based recovery solution that enables users to fully recover data at speeds typically reserved for high-end storage devices at a cost similar to tape automation. The product is pioneering the emerging market known as Capacity Optimized Storage. Speed-of-data-recovery and the ability to store up to 23 TB of data on site are the primary reasons Data Domain customers say they have made the company’s product an integral part of their backup and recovery strategy.

The DD200 also includes optional remote replication software called the Data Domain Replicator. Replicator enables data replication from one DD200 to another. Since the transferred data is highly compressed, the data flow volume is dramatically reduced, saving expensive bandwidth. Remote office data backups and disaster recovery strategies are both efficient and cost-effective with the Replicator. Up to 99% of the network bandwidth used by general disk-based backup/recovery solutions can be saved.
